The Johanna Kincaid Mystery Series

In the Wilds of Pennsylvania, Johanna Kincaid is enjoying an idyllic refuge from her former fast-paced life as a psychologist to the wealthy and privileged when she is unavoidably drawn into a dangerous situation.A close friend asks her to help hide a young girl who is a victim of a horrible crime. When Johanna agrees, her life and the lives of her dearest friends are suddenly at risk. They must find a way to outwit the girl's pursuers and law enforcement alike. If they fail, an innocent girl will die.Using her expert knowledge of human behavior and her adept skills in an ancient craft, Johanna confronts a secretive organization that is interwoven into the very social strata she once served. She soon discovers she, too, is being relentlessly tracked like prey.

When Johanna Kincaid takes an autumn road trip to northern Maine to help an old friend harvest her herbal medicine garden, she discovers things aren’t what they seem. It’s clear someone wants Norah Jordan-Minsky out of the way. A wild mixture of sabotage, botched accidents and deception require the use of her unique skills to prevent a murder. From a midnight hike under the stars of Mt Katahdin to a wild kayak ride down a river, Johanna can rely only on her own wits to put aright a lifetime of misplaced alliances before an irrevocable tragedy takes place. This time, Johanna is on her own, or is she? With ancient wisdom and suspenseful action, Clouds Over Katahdin is a gripping psychological thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

A psychological mystery rooted in human behavior, environmental conflict, and the edge of intuition.
When a decomposed body is discovered in a storm-swollen creek beside a controversial gas pipeline, the question is immediate: accident—or murder? The discovery ignites a political firestorm, drawing in activists, corporate interests, and a grieving father desperate for answers.
Psychologist Johanna Kincaid wants no part of it—until that father finds her.
As cleanup crews dredge the site, Johanna applies her expertise in behavioral science alongside a quieter, hard-earned intuitive awareness—one that reveals what others overlook. What emerges is not just motive, but design. When Johanna’s own daughter joins the forensic DNA tracking team, the case turns personal—and dangerous. The deeper Johanna looks, the clearer it becomes: she’s no longer just investigating the story. She’s part of it. And she may be the next piece someone intends to remove.Set against the high-stakes clash of land, power, and profit, Incident on the Right of Way blends psychological insight with grounded ancestral awareness to expose a timeless motive: greed.Perfect for readers of William Kent Krueger, Anne Hillerman, and Nevada Barr who are drawn to atmospheric mysteries with strong female leads and a subtle, authentic mystical edge.
Step into the flood. The truth doesn’t stay buried—it rises.

Book 4
Winters in Maine can be brutally cold. The first blizzard of the season arrives with a vengeance. At first, being safely tucked away in their off-grid solar farm seems magical for Johanna and Scott Kincaid, but the remoteness soon has unexpected consequences. As a power outage plunges the surrounding towns into darkness and neighbors go missing, their sustainable living project takes a turn for the worse. What or who is stalking people in northern Maine?
Johanna and Scott soon find themselves in the direct path of death and danger. With her expertise in human behavior and her determination to protect those she loves, Johanna must navigate the treacherous landscape of unbridled power and those who seek to wield it.

Book 5
When a ten thousand year old settlement is uncovered by a storm tide on the Outer Cape, it’s a rare opportunity for archaeologists to explore the ruins of an ancient culture. The Park Service at the National Seashore is hard pressed to keep tourists from trampling the site or removing artifacts, so they have increased their patrols.
Johanna and Scott Kincaid are enjoying a much needed vacation when an another squall hits the Cape. The next day Johanna makes a rare discovery while walking on the beach: human remains of a more recent variety. A pile of bones the Park Ranger swears weren’t there the night before. Suspicion reaches an all time high in the close-knit communities. More than a few old-timers recall the similarities to a serial killer who roamed the dunes of the remote villages over fifty years ago. Tony Costa, the Cape Cod Vampire. While the local police believe it’s the handiwork of a copy-cat murderer, Johanna thinks otherwise.

A Convergence of Crows
Review

A band of strong, capable women determined to take down a child sex trafficking ring with the aid of First Nations and other mystical wisdom is a powerful combination in this important story. Lowrie’s sweeping natural imagery gives space for readers to process difficult subject matter. While sex trafficking is an oft-explored topic, a seldom celebrated, fierce female presence lights up this book—an antidote to its brutal truths. The infusion of spirituality and its intersection with the natural world provides an impactful additional layer of meaning. Lowrie’s characters are vibrant and easy for readers to connect to, despite populating an uncommon, strikingly realized setting. Their backgrounds are fully examined and nicely inform the events unfolding in the present. ~ Booklife Prize Critic’s Review
